From 1966 to 2000 Matthew and Aline Shulman published The Lansing Community News. When their paper stopped publishing many people felt it was like their connection to the community had a hole in it.

When we decided to publish The Lansing Star Online we called the Shulmans for advice, which they generously gave us. Matthew even wrote an editorial for our first issue, a symbolic passing of the torch. He has sent us issues from 10/1996 through 5/1997.

We feel the Star has big shoes to fill, and are honored that the Shulmans entrusted us to host an archive of the Lansing Community News.

Notes About the Archive: Technology progresses in leaps and bounds, so an explanation is in order: We converted the old pagemaker files on our computer, and the conversions were not 100% as we have a newer system with some different fonts. Some items were missing from the original files, so you will find some odd symbols or missing items. We don't have all five years worth at this time. But we feel this archive presents a valuable resource that archives a portion of Lansing's history, even with these flaws.
